About
Dr. Pennington's goal as a physician is to offer patients the highest standard of care, while putting the goals and values of the patient first.
​
Raised in Norfolk, he earned a BA in Biology from Harvey Mudd College. During medical school, he performed research at the National Cancer Institute before completing his PhD at the University of Cambridge, with competitive funding from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and the National Institute on Aging. He received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University; where he stayed on to complete a surgical intern year. He completed his radiation oncology residency at UCLA, where he served as chief resident.

Dr. Pennington's clinical interests include all aspects of adult radiation oncology including radiosurgery, brachytherapy, and external beam radiation therapy in both curative and palliative settings. He has published research and presented at national meetings on topics including advanced brachytherapy, sarcomas, brain metastases, emergency treatment of spinal metastases, and aspects of molecular oncology.

In his spare time Dr. Pennington enjoys spending time with his family, running, and water sports. As a former lacrosse player at Harvey Mudd and Cambridge, he looks forward to teaching the sport to his two young daughters.
